Here you will find testimonials written by the students of the 2012 Transition Year class.
Transition Year for me was really good, We did lots of activities such as circus skills, the Law day, the road safety talk and the trip to Causey farm. All these activities were great craic and very interesting. We got the chance to try out different Leaving Certificate subjects such as Construction, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Accounting. This was very good because I helped me make an informed decision when I was choosing subjects for the Leaving Certificate. We also got the chance to go out on work experience, the first period was for two weeks, I went to CTS Computers, this made me think about a career in computers. For the second period, which was one week, I went to my old primary school Scoil Eimear. I spent the week in Junior Infants, this was interesting but it also taught me that I don't want to be a primary school teacher! Overall, I had a brilliant year in Transition Year and I would strongly recommend it to anyone!

From the beginning of Transition Year, I feel that I have matured greatly. I have also made friends with other students in the class that I wouldn’t have talked to before. In general, Transition Year has helped me a lot in the way I got a better insight into what subjects were about. I benefited from this when it came to choosing our subjects. The main thing that Transition Year did to me was that it helped me mature

So far, I have really enjoyed my year as a Transition Year student. I have achieved many things both inside and outside of school, such as qualifying as a Rugby Mini Games Coach, being authorised to use an AED and give CPR, became an FAI Football Coach, FAI and UEFA Football Referee, have started playing football for a club in Dublin among many other things. I have got to know loads of the lads way better and I have also made my mind up about the subjects I have chosen for my Leaving Cert, before this year I hadn’t a clue about what subjects I was going to do but now I know for definite. I have also drawn up my CV and have put a load of new things on it that I have received this year such as a Manual Handling Cert, Child Development Cert among others. I also took part in the “BT Young Scientist” Exhibition. I will never forget that week, it was great fun and I met a load of new people. I can always put that I participated in the exhibition on my CV as well.

I enjoyed nearly everything about TY this year. The school trips, the competitions, the new learning experience and the respect I received from everyone I came in contact with during a TY activity. There was a very small handful of things that I didn’t enjoy throughout the course of the year but apart from that TY was a fantastic experience.
